New Eldar Tanks

As part of Games Workshop's new Spearhead release (in the next White Dwarf), the eldar are getting two new tanks; the Night Spinner and a new version of the Fire Prism.

Despite using the Falcon chassis, the new turret design is a radical departure from the previous Forgeworld and GW models. The closest thing I've seen is the old Forgeworld Scorpion design.

Do I like it? Well, I'm undecided. When I first saw it, I thought the Night Spinner was great, but the Fire Prism looked very over the top. A day later, I've decided the Night Spinner guns look a bit small, but the Fire Prism I think I like. Hopefully without the antenna on top, it should look a little sleeker and more similar to the type II Forgeworld wave serpent/falcon kits (both of which I have, and will be in the new army).

However I certainly think this kit will be on my shopping list when it comes out. As an aside, I'm also really happy to see GW adding new units to ranges in between codex and army book releases again. I think this gives dedicated collectors something to keep their interest between different editions of their armies and is a very good idea.

  1. I'm still undecided over the new Fire Prisms. I've got two Prisms in my force at the moment, when the new ones come out I can't see me replacing them with the new ones. On the other hand, it may be the change I need to drop the Prisms and pick up a couple of Wraithlords...
